The Edinburgh Assay Office is delighted to have been awarded the Innovation Award for their Hallmarking and Fulfilment service at the UK Jewellery Awards in 2016.
The service was hailed by the judging body as ‘game changing’ and ‘a reaction to the boom in global e-commerce.’ One judge said:

while another commented that
This is an innovation that is truly relevant and forward-thinking for the good of the trade as a whole.
The award underlines Edinburgh Assay Office’s commitment to continuing to develop new services and technologies for the emerging jewellery industry. Ecommerce continues to challenge traditional retail value chains and at the present EAO are the only Assay Office in the world to have developed the technology to overcome the complexity of this challenge.
Hallmarking and Fulfilment allows retailers to import and drop ship bulk or single orders through the Assay Office. Directly after hallmarking, individual orders are retail packaged and then dispatched for final mile delivery to end consumers throughout Europe, cutting out the expensive cost of stock holding premises and/or a registered UK office. The service also offers stock holding/pick and pack as well as a returns and repairs service. All of the order and delivery data can be seamlessly transferred between the e-tailer, their supplier and the Assay Office with the system managed entirely by barcoding.
